“Thank you so so much for playing at our wedding and making it a night we'll never forget. You guys were amazing and all of our guests have commented on how fantastic you were. You even got the groom up dancing and that rarely happens. We would highly recommend Funk Conspiracy - absolutely awesome band!”

North East Wedding Venues Guide Part 2 by Funk Conspiracy

Searching for a wedding venue in the North East? Enjoy the second part of our guide which gives you some important factors to consider when making your choice.

Things to consider for you and your wedding party guests

Where is the bar? Ideally it should be located in the same room as where the band are playing. When the bar in the same room it keeps your wedding party together ensuring a great atmosphere. This is an important consideration if you want an active dance floor!!

The drinks prices - ideally they should be low or in the same range as pubs/bars. When the drinks prices are high, fewer drinks are consumed which can inhibit people’s enjoyment of the event. When you have booked a band like Funk Conspiracy, you really want to get the most value out of them - a few drinks will help loosen people up and let their hair down, your guests dancing and having a great time is of paramount importance! And the band love it when people dance too!

The small print

Ensure you read the venue’s terms and conditions before you book it! Even if you have already booked your venue, go and read the terms now, so you know where you stand. Some venues stipulate that you use their own DJ. Make sure they can accomodate what you want, ie requests and/or your specific playlists. If you are into a different style of music you may need to consider hiring your own DJ.

Venue summaries

(Please note these summaries are wholly Funk Conspiracy’s professional opinion based on experience of playing in the venues, and are not direct expressions from the venues themselves.)

Vermont Hotel. Castle Garth, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE1 1RQ. A great venue in the centre of Newcastle with a lovely small/medium sized room for a more intimate wedding party. Great acoustics and natural stage area. The bar and buffet are generally held in a different room.

Blue Flames, Whitley Park, Whitley Rd, Benton, Newcastle, NE12 9SF. Another great choice for a Newcastle wedding as it has good acoustics, a nice atmosphere and is less expensive than the high-end venues. Access for bands is good also.

Radisson Blu, Frankland Lane, Durham DH1 5TA- Classy modern venue in Durham with good acoustics and atmosphere. The bar is in hallway area and the load-in is okay for the band.
